UKMT Maths Challenge

Students at The Whitehaven Academy achieved 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronzes in this year’s UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge which took place in February.
Over 200,000 pupils from across the UK sat the Intermediate Maths Challenge and, nationally, the top 6% are awarded a gold certificate, the next 13% silver and the next 21% bronze.
Congratulations to the following students who all received one of the listed certificates; Matthew Charlton, Nathan Walkingshaw, Joshua Parr, Keelan Leslie, Joshua Gillson, Toby Parr, James Jennings and Aimee O’Driscoll.
Approximately 8,000 of the top students across the country are also invited to sit a follow-on competition, the Intermediate Mathematical Kangaroo. One student, James Jennings, was invited to take part in this, and he achieved a certificate of merit, which is awarded to the top 25% of all entries. This is a fantastic achievement and we are obviously immensely proud of James’ achievement in this national competition.
The Intermediate Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and supported by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
