Year 9 Make it in manufacturing enterprise challenge champions!

Eight Year 9 students, Emma Jennings, Eden Branney, Erin Houghton, Ella Agnew, Nathan Walkinshaw, Mathew Charlton, Thomas Haile and Josh Gillson, attended the Make it in Manufacturing Enterprise Challenge at the Energus centre in Workington yesterday. They competed against 12 other school from across the county. They had to take part in several challenges throughout the day including starting a business, designing and manufacturing an eco- friendly vehicle to deliver waste. They also had to create a product from scratch and design packaging and work out projected cost, sales and profit within their business. The day finished with a dreaded pitch to the three dragons (judges) where the students fielded some very difficult questions. Despite the outstanding competition the academy students faced, they ended in first place and were crowned county champions. They will now represent Cumbrian schools in the northern championships at the famous Manchester United stadium in March. Well done to the students involved in this fantastic achievement we are very proud you all!
