During the week beginning the 11th of April, year 7, 8 and 9 students from The Whitehaven Academy took part in a week long ‘Readathon’. Many schools across the UK take part in this sponsored event to raise money which helps pay for books and stories for children who are in hospital.

Our students read both fiction and non-fiction books in their English lessons throughout the week, they were able to use their technology devices to find stories and books that really interested them and encouraged them to continue reading even after the week had ended.

So far, over £250 has been raised for various charities with more money to be collected in the next week, a big well done to all students who participated and collected sponsors.
