The Whitehaven Academy Engineering Education Scheme team are at Sheffield Hallam University today to celebrate the end of this years EES projects.
The team have been working for 6 months on a suitable method to remove materials from the nuclear storage ponds at Sellafield. Working with 2 engineering graduates and Mr Bradbury they have designed and tested their novel ideas at a residential visit to Newcastle University in January and have completed a full technical report which had to be submitted to EES for assessment. Today marks the final day of this years project where students will be presenting their work to a panel of industry experts and other school teams as well as answering a series of technical and project based questions.
Wish them luck!
