Christmas Craft Fair – a great success!

The Christmas Craft Fair took place Friday 4th December, this was the first event run to help establish a The Whitehaven Academy Action Group.

A very big thank you to all the people who ventured out on a very wet and windy night to support the event and make it a real success, 3 to 4 hundred people attended.

We had a large range of stalls including Student produced work, Glass Christmas Decorations, woodcraft, Art and Vintage items.

GrassRoots Garden Centre sold a large number of Christmas plants and wreaths which will help fund future work with their clients.

Father Christmas and one of his elves attended throughout the fair and helped make the event a really special first for the newly formed Action Group.

The fair finished with the drawing of the raffle. Many of the raffle prizes were provided by local businesses including:  Tescos, Morrison’s, Whitehaven Garden Centre the Wellington Bistro as well as staff and parents. The main prize of seafood cookery lessons at Rheged was provided by The White Mare, Beckermet.

A fantastic group of parents put in a great deal of work to make a real success raising £750 as well as a contributions to 2 local charities.
