Year 7 News

Year 7 proudly wish to congratulate the following students on their achievements in various Sporting activities within and outside of the Academy.

Jacob Swinburn in Form 7Abbott competes for the Copeland Amateur Swimming Club. He came first in 3 races on 1st November 2015 at the Copeland Swimming Club He was awarded 3 ‘Gold Medals’ for the Backstroke, Front crawl and the Butterfly races alongside other shields and trophies. He was also named as ‘Best Boy’ in the 12 to 13 age Group.

Sam Casson in 7Adams, who boxes for the Whitehaven Amateur Boxing Club, won several trophies and at the recent Whitehaven and District ABC competition on the 7th and 8th November 2015. He was awarded trophies for ‘Boxer’s Boxer’, ‘Attendance’, ‘Most dedicated’, ‘Best Junior Bout’, ‘Most Promising Junior’ and of course ‘Winning Fight’.

Connor Underwood in Form 7Abbott who plays for Lowca Rugby Club under 11’s won the ‘Man of Steel’ award (which is player of the Year and Players player in one award) on 7th November at the Club’s Presentation Event.

Year 7 – 5-a-side football team – District champions !!!!!!!

The team played WLA and St Benedict’s, on Wednesday 11th November, in a battle to become district champions and progress to the next stage of the competition at Carlisle. The boys were fantastic and some of the performances not only impressed their coach, Mr Black, but impressed the local rival schools, who were full of praise for the team and how well they represented the Academy.
