Students and Staff at The Whitehaven Academy observed a two minute silence at 11am on November 11.
The Academy has always observed the act of remembrance by stopping work and taking part in a two minutes silence. This year students in the academy, who are also members of the cadet forces, approached Philip Grant, Principal, to ask if he would allow all the students and staff to muster on the school playground to carry out the act of remembrance, which he agreed. The students feel very strongly that we should pay special homage to those who died in service to their country. Unfortunately, the poor weather conditions prevented the whole school from mustering outside.
William Templeton, Year 12, lead the two minute silence and John Stoker, Year 12, dipped the union flag as the Post 16 students observed.
