The Whitehaven Academy Announces GCSE Results

Students at the academy are celebrating as they receive their GCSE results.

91% of our students have achieved five or more GCSEs, and the academy has seen improvements in English, computing and art.

Mr Grant, Principal of the academy, said: “Since becoming part of Bright Tribe Trust, we have been going through a period of change in order to introduce and embed a new curriculum and restructure staffing to ensure we can offer the best possible education for our students. Our results today reflect this and we expect that next year we will see further improvements. I’d like to say a big well done to all our students for their hard work!”

Of particular note are Lois Carhart who achieved 2A*s, 6As, 1B; Keavy Horricks who achieved 3As and 6Bs; Sam Jackson who achieved 1A*, 6As, 2Bs; and Hazel Naylor who achieved 4A*s and 5As.

Following last week’s excellent A level results the academy is delighted to report that 36% of students are going on to study at university, 18% have found employment and 15% are returning to the academy. We are working with the remaining students to help get them on their desired pathway.

The academy is extremely proud of its students’ achievements and wishes them continued success in the future.
