On Friday 26 June a team of around 60 people will pull 5 specially modified Wheelie Bins from West Lakes Academy to Cockermouth School.
There are 5 charity bin teams:
•Howgill Family Centre
•West Cumbria Unemployed Workers Centre
•Cumbria Community Foundation
•North Lakes Foodbank
The Whitehaven Academy is proud to be the first major pit stop of the event. In the run up to the event, staff and students will make donations for the Foodbank.
In the weeks leading to the challenge, you can donate cash or food (from the list below).
‘Drop stations’ for students to leave donations are situated in main office, Mr Campbell’s office and Mrs Fitzsimons’ classroom. If anyone would like to make a cash donation, please hand this to Mrs Fitzsimons. The last day for donations to be brought in is Thursday 25 June.
In addition, The Whitehaven Academy have been selected as the host school to record an adapted version of the TV show ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ which will see local chef Ricky Andalcio work with students from our academy and local apprentices to cook meals using the key foods that are donated to the Foodbank.
The whole event will be filmed by a documentary film crew and will also be recorded by Border News.
