Second place success in Design and Technology competition

On Friday 6th of March a group of 12 students, ranging from year 8 to year 10, attended the annual Design and Technology competition organised by Workington Rotary club at Hunday Manor Hotel.

The students had no idea what the competition involved as usual until they got to the venue, and had to use their organisational and presentation skills as well as problem solving skills to find a solution to the design brief, and then test it – quite a challenge!

Teams attended from across West Cumbria, from St Bees to Keswick. Our three teams aquitted themselves well, and were a credit to our academy. The intermediate team consisting of Kelsea Lofthouse, Charlotte Stamper, Nicole Gainford and Abbie Johnstone beat off competition from Gen2, St Bees School and Keswick School amongst others to gain 2nd place.

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and it was commented several times throughout the day by the organisers how maturely all our students behaved.

Well done to all the students involved!
