The year 9 options evening took place last night and our new Principal, Mr Grant, attended to share with parents and students details of the new curriculum.
Mr Grant joins us in his new role after Easter but has already started to become involved in life at the academy and getting to know staff and students.
We are launching an exciting new curriculum from September 2015 and in Key Stage 4 (years 10 and 11) students will study a broad range of subjects, with the option of academic or vocational study or a mixture of the two, depending on their interests and aspirations.
The curriculum has been designed to prepare students for work and to give them the best possible chance of progressing to their chosen pathway into Post 16 and beyond. We are working with local and national employers, apprenticeship providers and further and higher education providers to ensure our curriculum provides students with the skills that employers need to fill the proven skills gaps in West Cumbria.
