Science in action!

On 26th September The Whitehaven Academy was proud to host The REACT Foundation and their new roadshow ‘Material World’, a show focusing on how atoms and molecules interact to form the world we know.

The show was an hour long spectacular delivered by REACT’s partners from the Science Museum in London.  Demonstrations included exploding paint cans, formation of water from hydrogen and oxygen in highly explosive balloons and even screaming Jelly Babies!

All students in Year 7, 8 and 9 watched and enjoyed the highly entertaining show designed to engage students in science and engineering and inspire them to consider careers in science, as well as enthuse them in their science lessons.

Many thanks to The REACT Foundation and the Science Museum for this fantastic opportunity.
