We’re running a free week-long summer school for Year 5 and Year 6 primary pupils to teach them about the exciting world of games coding.
The summer school, called Geek Week, will be held between Monday 28th July and Friday 1st August and will teach children how to code in a fun and safe environment.
During the week, the children will work with experienced games developers and will design and build their own games.
The week will be held at The Whitehaven Academy and will be delivered by some of the leading experts in games development and facilitated by teachers from the academy.
Jacki Smith, Acting Principal says: “Geek Week offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and to apply new skills and meet new friends over the summer. We are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity in the community and are excited to be able to host this coding experience. I know that those who attend will gain so much from the experience and join us later in their educational careers with an improved skills set and a good understanding of the academy”.
